Poetry from High School #2

Angel of Ice

Heart in Ice,
cold and distant,
freeze the waters,
bring the snow,
come to me my ice angel,
trap me in your frozen cave,
you're far away now,
yet you sit right next to me,
eyes cast towards the window,
looking to the sky,
forever dreamer,
forever avoidant,
covers up fear with anger and hatred,
angel,
you are,
although you may not know it,
beauty sparkles like snowflakes around you,
child shrouded in mystery,
you sit,
quiet almost haunting,
a presence that is never acknowledged,
but always noticed,
silent like the falling snow,
angry like the bitter cold,
yet friendly,
with kindness that gives you wings,
allowing you to fly,
but fear keeps you grounded,
fallen,
in a fierce blizzard,
hidden in a blanket of white,
hopelessness makes you lost,
forever wandering the earth,
looking for the mirror of eternal reflection,
heart in ice,
soul of frost,
the fallen angel,
winter's child,
thaw your heart,
angel of ice.

Untitled

Walking happily
through the endless forest
smiling to the trees
untouched beauty
watches the light of morning
useless perfection
trapped in a dead cell
fire which burns within the soul
ending the life of the quiet forest
smoke rising into air
no longer perfect
no longer green, but burned to black ashes
still smiling
the suddenly unmasked snake
who cast her fortune to oblivion
gleaming with true happiness
now and forever telling the story of lies
the suddenness of freedom
a beautiful death.

Hybrid Forest

Run to the light one
two run from the dark
the three stop and turn
trapped somewhere in middle ground
not knowing anything
lost in a labyrinth, of ones own mind
poisoned by lies
their truth is unspoken
refusing to be revealed, in fear of a bullet to the heart
resulting is endless pain
or in a cast out scream, calling for the grim reaper
their truth is unspoken to themselves
not knowing
still stuck in that middle ground

paths are all around
but we refuse to follow the sound, of a voice calling
afraid that it's an illusion of a desperate mind

the clock ticks
for time is not forever
being stuck
scared to push forward
wastes that time

still trapped in that middle ground
it is not just the path of light and dark
right and wrong
that lie before us

it is that of which we cannot comprehend
paths made of many choices
paths made of uncertain truth

keeping us scared and still
unmoving from the middle ground

our thoughts are not our own
though we may wish to stroll down a path
we cannot
for those thoughts are made up of consequences and doubt

although we can face it
break the lock that keeps us confined in the cage of chaos
face the lies
face the truth
face the fear

perhaps it's more
that keeps stuck within the middle unable to push through

each path has one certainty
each path has one that is the same

we are stuck because it is not just doubt and lies
not just fear
and visions of pain

we stick
because that one common ground
that is laid out in all paths

is ourselves

that one common truth
is why we are stuck

why no matter how bad one wants to push forward
despite all else that holds one back

is knowing that we will encounter the doppelganger
running head first into that of which we do not want to see

until the mind works beyond the closest door
fear becoming but a notion, of something that is lost in time

we stay trapped
unable to push forward

stuck in that middle ground.

The Fallen

Walking along the boundless sea
the dusty storm clouds gather near
to the light beyond the far reaching hand
a place of hope
a wonderland
where all is filled with danger and surprise
something to give one....meaning
on the inside
wake up
they always say
but to stay
is to stay...away
far away
from that reaching hand
that would pull one's mind from wonderland
who say
you say..not
but he and she
to run from that far off reality
but then believe
in all you see and seek
to know and to speak
but all is lost in that land
and you, I, and they
Wake Up
still in wonderland
but then the thunder cracks
Wake Up
and me, and he, and she
are here
and there
walking along the boundless sea
in the rain
with the noise and despair
but then I
look there
to find the golden teddy bears
the marshmallow clouds
and the chocolate rain
but not he, or she, or they, but me
I see
what lay ahead
and you let me....see
so then.....
to walk, I do
forward...into
the storm and I
and me
we leave
and fall into the boundless sea
to drown
in crimson ecstasy.

The Space Between

Control the space around you
you think,
not true
Where does the hate begin?
Is it with you?
Is it with them?
Infinite power equals endless sorrow
What are you?
An immortal being?
Is that what you think?
God of your own mind
Foolish Mortal,
God of your own insanity
silly human
Where does your reality begin?
Not with me
not with them
Twisted heart
Is your truth
inhuman thoughts
is your infinity
Stupid Human
Look Ahead,
you'll see a brick wall
Foolish Mortal
foolish man
You Control Nothing
imperfect and destructive
greedy and self-centered
That Is You
The Humanity
that is the truth
Human hatred
human hearts
Human lies
There are no gods in this world
Light doesn't mean salvation
Darkness doesn't mean evil
Stupid Humans
You Are Not Gods
foolish mortals
These are your truths
There are no longer lies to comfort you
Rulers of Denial
Merchants of Death
Humanity
Run Humans!
Fear the false Gods of this world
run humans!
Believe the false immortals
silly humans
Belief in your own fabricated lies
human
Living in your own death trap
killing your truths
Stupid humans
foolish mortals
This is us
These are your children
This is you.

The Wanderer

we are not the fantasy
the lives we live
uncertainity
i am
not what she says too
i am
who
that is unknowing
to seek far beyond the now
but we are not what we seek
she is not me
and he is she
or not
maybe
the question
an unanswered one
forgotten
in the absence of sun
i am
not what i speak
or the life i seek
then who?
you may
ask or not
and i
will never say
unanswered
for now and yesterday
but where will she stay?
under stars when the sun has gone away
that sight
i want
and fly
to fly
in that sky
and die
in the never ending sight
of that
forgotten sun
the moonless night
i am
not
what i say
or in fact the words of they
but to know
what that, the who
of which
and why
will be found
perhaps
not here
or now
but to you and all
everything
waits
for the curtain to fall
but that is no more
to stand
in the rain
looking for the sky to clear again
no
i run
into the rain
and find a place to dry again
and then
i spin
and look
and run
and stumble
and fall
and rise
not done
so i
find that
i am
not yet
but soon
yes, soon
that place
the place
where birds descend.

Count Down

The noise hums
Loud in my ears
I try to cover it
Force it down
But the sound intrudes my consciousness again
Over and over
The sound grows loud
I try harder
to seek out the silence
yet I hear more sound
The shriek becomes louder still
( I must escape )
Forward I run
Footsteps hollow as I tread
The noise still resonates
An unbearable echo in my head
Flying forward
I fall through glass
I hear it no more.

Poetry from Ireland #4

Inescapable

Sitting in front of a window
Girl with the braided hair

Can you see now?
Are you even there?

Cars fly by on a littered street
as piles of loud teenagers
and screaming kids
run about on the sidewalk below

Leaning out further
she sees, the broken glass
she hears, the chatter,
the horns, the barking

An array of sounds
that collide
to create an explosion of noise
that swirl around her
Creating chaos in the air

Girl with the brown eyes
Sitting on the window sill

Looks inward
to the place where she dwells

The sight of the same faces
with their same smiles

blurring together

The sounds of chitchat
and loud laughter

echoing through
Creating lies

There’s chaos here too

Girl with the sad smile
Looking to the window

and into the clear sky
where the planes zoom by
and the birds fly free

She sighs and thinks

"That will never be me."

Poetry from Ireland #3

Adventureland
Giants Causeway

Wind in my hair
earth under my feet
stepping forward

crawl, scratch, leap

Piles and piles of rocks ahead
brown and speckled
nestled on a water bed

Reach upward
pull myself higher

Climbing, climbing,
up, up, up

I feel the stares
questioning my actions

But I
keep going
uncaring
yet knowing

I look like that crazy girl
wandering off
in her own world

I, venture to
a place where no one else dares to be
the peak of the rocks, taking in the scene

I smile
breathe in the air
take a picture
and gaze out at the sea,

lost in a view
That only belongs to me.

Poetry from Ireland #2

Racing Through Ireland

Running down the grass
slippery and wet

Turn a corner

under oak trees
with their moldly bark
and sharp green leaves

Keep moving
forward
faster

"bump, bump"
over the old wooden bridge

ignoring that,
under those feet
the hush of the river

breathes, lives

Push farther
even faster

And in the air
suddenly
fills with a sweet perfume scent

Slow down

into the hues
of the purple-pinks
and the soft yellows
flowing through petals

Keep moving
Keep going

dancing through flowers
and out a gated door

start into a run again
a journey to see more.

Poetry from Ireland #1

A Summer in Dublin

Sunny day
cloudless skies

Mother nature is misleading
she lies and lies

Walking along in t-shirts and jeans

Poor fools,
not suspecting anything

Clouds swarm in
making gray skies
drops of water
downpour

There go the lies

scramble for umbrellas, jackets, hats
and then

The rain stops
the sky clears
the sun is out again.

Random Poetry

Face Forward

You think, it's okay?
HA!
silly little girl
still living in her fantasy world

where she thinks the world is technicolor
and anything you dream will come true

wake up, little girl
you know the reality
everything is black or white
fight or flight

You know
there's no cotton candy clouds
and rivers made of chocolate milk

There's clouds of smog
and rivers running red with blood

You know
those fighters
the ones who occupy the earth?

they kill it
kill each other
hurt the world

silly girl
you’re foolish,
if you think it's still there
the hope
for something more

but no,
it's all dead

where things are built up
just to be torn down

lost in their selfish needs
and wants for their world

You think there's something more than this?

more beyond reality
more than devastation
and heartache

That there is heaven in this
land full of demons

where pain runs rampant through
the cities and towns

Heh.

That's Cute....

Still so set in your childlike ways

Grow Up.

The world isn't your playground
And there's no such thing as happily ever after

It’s time you live in reality
Or face the consequences of
Living in your past

No?

You’d
rather stay
in the world you made?

Fine.

Live in that world.

You -

You, stupid, stupid, girl.

Poetry from Italy # 5

Keeping Love

giant metal objects
stuck tight
on a bridge

actually not just on bridges
but Juliet’s house
and Cinque Terre too

Those are places in Italy
in case you didn’t know

all with those strange metal objects
some even have colors

what?
it’s for love

two names written on it
means they're suppose to be together forever?

it’s a promise?
it’s a wish?

locked together
forever
no matter what

Is that really what it’s about?
those silly things
that you place on your luagge
so your things don’t get stolen

It must work so that no other will steal your heart
for it already belongs to your lover

and endure
no matter what happens

such a romantic notion
to be locked in a love forever

but do they really think about it?
such a promise
such a wish

and what it really means.

Poetry from Italy # 4

That Chapel in Rome

Everywhere covered in biblical light
my eyes focus as I
pull out my red camera

zooming in
I see a man reaching out
his finger pointing outward
toward a younger man
who looks listless
lifeless

will this touch bring him to lfe?
will you live Adam?
As it is God
God will

my eyes continue to roam
and land
there again another man

when all is said and done
are these who will judge last?
and who ascends,
to heaven?

I smile and spin about the room
the colors blur
as the angels begin to sing
and the chatter around me
brings life in the images
about the walls

then
I pull back my camera
placing it in my pocket

It's time to go
It's a shame

Michelangelo
Raphael
amazing artists

beautiful lights

I could look forever.

Poetry from Italy # 3

On a Train from Florence to Nice

sitting in an ugly blue seat
hours have drifted by
my tired eyes, glance to the side

there sits a girl
with a medical book in her lap
meticulously taking notes

I wonder
how she is
unfazed by the endless chatter
of those around her

and the sprawling landscapes
of rocky gray mountains
placed about a crystal blue sea

that passes by
just outside her window

I admire such dedication
to study in a crowded space
during the summer
with its never ending heat

suddenly
a tall man walks by
in lavender skinny jeans

she glances up

then I
chuckle to myself
and close my eyes.

Poetry from Italy # 2

The Rhythm of Firenze

Cityscape
busy streets
people from all walks of life gather

Cars zoom by
and beep
as the sounds of
clap, clap, stomp
can be heard from humans feet

while the dogs bark
and the birds sing
or squawk or even screech

As the many voices blend
together
in chatter, screaming, and endless laughter

cameras click
a guitar strums
As a bang, boom
Can be heard from a distance
And then

" Buonasera!" an Italian man says.

" Ciao, my friend! " a woman responds

and everything repeats again.

Poetry from Italy # 1

I was on Italy for the month and here is one of the many poems I wote while I was there.

Scribbles against the Walls

crowds of people push by
As I make my way
through the giant gate
And into a dark archway
Immediately I see

Written on stone
are initials locked in multi-colored hearts
layered on top of one another
Like bad graffiti
Littering the walls
In an endless stream of wishes from visitors

To Juliet
In hopes their loves will last forever

I look closer
At the marker, pen, and crayon
Etched into entrance of her house

And wonder
How much luck in love
Can one possibly receive
From a young girl
Whose own story ended in tragedy?

One of my Old School Poems

She is an epic novel
Tale of an average girl
Who doesn’t grovel
She walks
She talks
And fights every step of the way
Pushes her way through chapters
Refusing to just stay
Her goal is glory
So she steps out of the pages
And escapes
From her own story
and broke the fourth wall
Nah, scratch that
She shattered it
Kicked the pieces across the floor
And scattered it
She’s no legend
No fairy-tale story
She’s gonna have her fame and glory
She’s the epic reality
Of a brown-eyed girl
whose mere existence
Will rock the world
So hard
It’ll shake
Rattle and break
And crumble and then
She’ll jump back into the novel again
True story of a girl
With long eye lashes
Who broke the world
Brought on the flames
And burned it to ashes.

About a Korean Film. My Review of Sassy Girl.

My Sassy Girl Trailer

Okay, so you know how America takes perfectly good foreign films and remake them?...and @ least 8 times out of 10 they bucther the orginal? Well...I have a feeling it'll be the case with this movie so I thought I'd give the orginal a shout so as opposed to the american remake of " My Sassy Girl."

Okay, so the plot goes a little something like this...you're going home from an outing with friends one night and you see a girl leaning over the subway tracks as the train is coming you pull her back, saving her life but she's drunk so she says nothing. You both get on the train where she proceeds to yell and slap some kid in the face then throws up on sum old guy calls you " honey " then passes out. And because she calls you " honey " the old man yells at you to take care of your " girlfriend " leaving you to clean up the mess. Which starts one of the craziest relationships with the craziest girl I've ever seen...and where the words " Wanna die?" is actually a term of endearment.

This Korean romantic comedy film is based on a true story publsihed on the internet by Kim Ho Sik and stars Cha Tae Hyun as Kyun Woo..the college student who is looking for love and ends up finding " the girl " played by Jeon Ji-Hyun who turns everything upside down, sideways, and any other way you can think of.

You can find this and other Korean films on youtube with english subs where I watched it. Now, the movie is decent...meaning it's good and very funny. It's worth a watch even if u r not so much into foreign films but trust me you'll wanna watch this as opposed to the remake, I haven't seen the remake but based on the trailer I saw, you can tell that they don't even come close to capturing the true meaning of the characters and film. It's a rather good romantic comedy so if you like those, this is one to watch in the original state.

Well, go give it watch...and see for yourself. ^__^

Anime Review: Elfen Lied

Warning: This Anime is for Mature viewers only ( 18 + ). And because the anime is 18 +....my review is for Mature readers only.

Elfen Lied. An anime that the minute the introduction song is over you are thrown into a room. An image of an arm attached to nothing with blood pouring out over the floor enters your vision.

And that's only one second into the first episode.....

The story follows a girl named Lucy, who apparently is a killer. Only, the way she kills isn't by human methods. She can can snap the head clean off bodies, decapitate limbs, and rip through flesh all without physically touching anyone. But inside of Lucy there's another girl who appears when Lucy sleeps. And she is the epitome of innocence and posses the mind of a child and that girl is found on a beach by two college age cousins by the names of Kouta and Yuka. And because of ability to only say the word " Nyu" that becomes her name. So, they take her in knowing nothing of Lucy, throwing them head first into a world of non-humans ( aka Diclonius ) , secrets, and lost memories. But that doesn't even cover half of it. Elfen Lied has a subtle beauty through the blood and violence that enters the extremes of human cruelty and kindness. As the story moves forward from the first episode not only are you pushed through a whirlwind of raw emotion and pain but you also come face to face with human sins that are often seen by others through a glass surface. From the torture and murder of those like Lucy ( the diclonius ), to animal cruelty, and even the reality of child molestation. Which everything is addressed not only in obvious ways but also through subtle use of metaphor and scenery. The more you watch the more you can't help but apply it to the world we live in and as I watched I couldn't help but get sadden by the fact that humanity can be that cruel. But at the same time it can be just as kind which is expressed by the character of Kouta. A character who because of his own tragic past reached out to those like Nyu who seem to have no place to go and offers them a home which he does not only with Nyu but two other girls. One of who he helps escape her horrible home life without even asking questions and all he asks in return is for her to just help around the house. Also the fact that he is nothing but kind to Nyu even despite her obvious difference to himself ( i.e. the horns on her head ) and by putting himself in danger to help the people he has no connections with. And the girls he takes in not only does he give them a home put he also gives them a life outside of their pain. And when you find out the exact circumstances of his past it makes you really feel for him. I would mention the character of Yuka..who is rather kind as well but honestly, I found her rather annoying so we'll skip over her. The whole anime is such a contrast of evil and innocence that's as touching as it is terrifying. And almost every character had such a devastatingly tragic past that it just tugs at your heart strings.

However, this anime is not for the faint of heart. It contains so much blood and carnage that even the most gore-happy horror fans' jaws will drop at the excess of it. With the vivid sounds of bones snapping and blood splatter I started to get rather queasy at the sight and sound of it.. And when you consider that, the excess nudity, and cursing this anime is a definite no go for children. I really wouldn't watch it if you are under the age of 18. I mean I would never let my 15 year-old cousin watch it and she's already seen tons of R rated gore horror films just because it's that intense. Also the relationship between Yuka and Kouta is worth mentioning because although they are cousins there is a bit of a romantic relationship that develops between the two of them. Now, I've heard that, that is fine over in Japan. But despite that some people still might be aghast over it. But I just think, that it's really just anime and it makes it easy to ignore.

Overall, Elfen Lied is a very dark and possibly psycologically scarring for those not mature enough to handle it. And through the 13 episodes, it takes you through such a rollercoaster ride of death, hope, despair, love, heartache, happiness, loneliness, confusion, rage, and utter devastation that it just might bring some to tears. With a way that's so hauntingly twisted that you'll be thinking about it long after it's over. But the question is..Would I recommend it? And although, I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. I'd say...Yeah, for those who can handle it. I would.

Side Note(s): Below is the link for the trailer for Elfen Lied. And this review is based on the English Dubbing of Elfen Lied. Also I've heard there's a 30 min. OVA to this series too but I'm not certain. Also sry, for any spelling or grammar errors. I can never seem to catch them all.
